Historically a pass-through for folks heading to Port Townsend, Port Angeles or the Olympic Mountains, Chimacum has had a bit of a facelift the last few years. Day trippers are heading there in droves, not just on their return trip from an epic Mt. Townsend ascent, but as a destination in itself.
Chimacum is a budding farming community, just shy of an hour's drive from Bainbridge Island. The city boasts a growing number of hot spots: a brewery, cider house, several restaurants/diners and a top-knotch organic farmstand.
Park at the "four corners," Center Road and Rhody Drive, to access the following:
is a must visit for organic produce, live plants, or a pre-made veggie sandwich and pastry. The farmstand's icon, a little chick, can be found (in various iterations of the one here) throughout Washington State gracing the bumpers of travelers and locals alike.

offers home-style meals and more importantly... PIE! Stop in for a slice or two. The servers have stories to tell, time to tell them, and strong coffee for your return drive home. The cafe is an inviting step back in time.
Also close by, the Gibbs Lake Trail System great for hiking, running or mountain biking and
HJ Carroll Park, home to walking paths, a labyrinth, playground, picnic area, RC car trails/jumps and a Disc Golf Course that draws folks from allover the State.

This gives Buyers on Bainbridge Island a bit more time & additional flexibility to negotiate terms than other WA areas; A welcomed break from the constant review periods & multiple offers of season's past! There are, however, fewer homes to choose from.
